Usually protesting zoo practices rather than publicly praising them, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals lauded the San Diego Zoo in its efforts to take on two former circus elephants in need of recovery and a home.
The elephants belonged to an independent circus operator in Texas, not to Ringling Bros.
